Dusit Collection Opens WE Hotel Toya in Hokkaido

Dusit International has expanded its presence in Japan with the opening of WE Hotel Toya, Dusit Collection, marking the debut of the Dusit Collection brand in the country. The lakeside retreat in Hokkaido officially joins the brand on 1 July 2026, becoming Dusit’s third property in Japan following ASAI Kyoto Shijo and Dusit Thani Kyoto.

Located on the shores of Lake Tōya within the Toya-Usu UNESCO Global Geopark, the hotel is around 100 minutes by road from New Chitose Airport. Surrounded by volcanic landscapes, hot springs and seasonal scenery, the property offers guests access to one of Hokkaido’s well-known natural destinations.

Originally opened in 2018, the hotel was designed by Kengo Kuma & Associates. The architecture incorporates natural materials and contemporary Japanese design, creating a connection between the building and its surrounding lake, forests and mountains.

The property offers 55 lake-view guestrooms and three two-storey villas for families and small groups. Each guestroom measures approximately 37 square metres and includes a private open-air bath overlooking Lake Tōya. Guests also have access to a communal bath with panoramic lake views.

As part of its transition to the Dusit Collection brand, the hotel’s dining programme has been refreshed to combine Japanese culinary traditions with Thai influences using seasonal ingredients from Hokkaido.

EZO Cuisine serves Japanese dishes prepared with locally sourced produce and international cooking techniques, while The Noodle Bar offers Thai favourites, including Tom Yum noodles and Khao Soi. TARU Bar features Japanese teas, sake, whisky and craft liqueurs, while Toya Bar serves cocktails and premium beverages overlooking the lake.

Reservations for WE Hotel Toya, Dusit Collection are now open. To mark the opening, the hotel is offering a launch package for stays between 1 July and 30 September 2026, including 20% savings on a half-board stay with two meals per day.
