Alaska Airlines and Hawaiian Airlines Expand Free High-Speed Wi-Fi Across Fleet

Alaska Airlines Advances Fleet-Wide Starlink Wi-Fi Rollout with 150 Aircraft Equipped

Alaska Airlines and Hawaiian Airlines have announced progress in the rollout of complimentary high-speed inflight Wi-Fi across their combined fleet, with approximately 150 aircraft now equipped with the service.

The rollout is part of a broader initiative to enhance onboard connectivity. The airlines are deploying Wi-Fi powered by Starlink, which offers lower latency and faster speeds compared to traditional inflight connectivity systems. The service allows passengers to stream and browse during flights.

As part of the rollout, both airlines are introducing a new onboard digital portal, expected to be available from June. The platform will allow passengers to access Wi-Fi by enrolling in Atmos Rewards, the combined loyalty program of the two airlines. Existing members will be able to connect automatically, while new users can register during the flight.

The airlines indicated that the updated connectivity experience will be standard across Starlink-equipped aircraft by mid-July. The Wi-Fi service is being offered at no additional cost, supported through a partnership with T-Mobile.

“For years, T-Mobile has played a key role in keeping our guests connected, and we’re proud to now offer Starlink, the fastest Wi-Fi in the sky, to Atmos members for free, made possible through our work with T-Mobile. We’ve seen an overwhelmingly positive response from our guests, and we couldn’t have done it without T-Mobile as we continue to raise the bar for the experience across Alaska Airlines and Hawaiian Airlines”, said Shane Jones,  Senior Vice President- Fleets, Products & Guest Experiences, Alaska Airlines.

Hawaiian Airlines began introducing Starlink connectivity in 2024, becoming one of the early adopters of the technology among U.S.-based carriers. Alaska Airlines initiated installations across its fleet later, including regional aircraft, and is continuing deployment across its mainline and widebody aircraft.

Mike Belcher, Head of Partnerships & Business Development, T-Mobile, said,  Our relationship with Alaska Airlines has helped redefine what travelers can expect from inflight connectivity, and today’s milestone is another important step forward. Bringing complimentary inflight Wi-Fi to more travelers across both Alaska Airlines and Hawaiian Airlines makes it easier to stay connected throughout their journey. The new, streamlined experience for accessing Wi-Fi reflects our shared commitment to delivering a better, more seamless travel experience.”

The airlines expect to expand the service further, with installations planned across additional aircraft through 2027. This includes widebody aircraft operating long-haul international routes from Seattle to destinations such as Seoul, London, Rome and Tokyo.

The rollout reflects ongoing investment by both airlines in onboard technology and passenger experience, particularly as they expand international operations and connectivity offerings.
