MIA Welcomes World Cup Travellers with Samba Dancers and Cultural Entertainment

Miami International Airport marked the opening day of the 2026 FIFA World Cup with live cultural performances designed to welcome travellers and football fans passing through the airport.

The celebrations took place inside Concourse D and featured performances by Brazilian & Latin Sounds Co., bringing Brazilian-inspired entertainment to passengers arriving in and connecting through Miami.

Samba Dancers and Drummers Bring World Cup Energy

The opening day programme included two live performances featuring:

  • Samba dancers
  • Batucada drummers
  • Capoeira acrobats

The performances showcased Brazilian culture and added to the festive atmosphere as the tournament officially began.

Daniella Levine Cava attended the first performance and highlighted the airport’s efforts to create a memorable experience for World Cup visitors.

Fan Zones Created Across the Airport

To support football fans throughout the tournament, Airport has established dedicated fan zones in multiple locations.

These include:

  • A fan zone at Gate E5
  • A fan zone in the Concourse H-J connector

Large-screen monitors will broadcast World Cup matches, allowing travellers to watch games while waiting for flights.

Several airport restaurants will also show matches live during the tournament.

Soccer-Themed Art Displays Enhance Airport Experience

In addition to live entertainment, the airport has introduced football-themed art exhibitions in its North and South terminals.

The displays aim to create a World Cup atmosphere throughout the airport and provide visitors with additional cultural experiences during their journey.

Airport Prepares for Millions of World Cup Travellers

As one of the busiest international gateways in the United States, MIA is expected to handle millions of passengers during the FIFA World Cup.

The airport will welcome visitors attending matches in Miami-Dade County while also serving as a major connecting hub for fans travelling to other host cities across North America.

MIA Showcases Miami’s Diverse Culture

Airport officials said the World Cup activations are part of broader efforts to enhance the passenger experience through cultural programming, public art, lighting installations and terminal improvements.

The initiatives are intended to showcase Miami’s multicultural identity while creating a welcoming environment for international visitors during one of the world’s largest sporting events.
