Christchurch Adds Three New International Routes
Air New Zealand Expands South Island Connectivity
Air New Zealand has announced three new non-stop international routes from Christchurch to Singapore, Tokyo (Narita) and Perth as part of an agreement with Christchurch Airport to strengthen international connectivity for New Zealand’s South Island.
The new services will launch from late October 2026, supported by the return of Boeing 787 aircraft to service and the addition of new aircraft to Air New Zealand’s fleet.
The Christchurch–Singapore route will begin on 28 October 2026, followed by Christchurch–Tokyo Narita on 28 November 2026 and Christchurch–Perth on 30 November 2026.
Air New Zealand and Christchurch Airport have also signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) focused on long-term cooperation for network development, sustainable growth and improved international access for the South Island.

Nikhil Ravishankar, Chief Executive Officer of Air New Zealand, said the airline’s focus remains on strengthening regional connectivity and supporting economic opportunities through international air links.

Justin Watson, Chief Executive Officer of Christchurch Airport, said the new routes would support tourism, trade and freight movement while further developing Christchurch as an international gateway for the South Island.
The routes are expected to improve direct access between Christchurch and major destinations in Asia and Australia while supporting tourism and business travel.
Flights are now on sale, with services scheduled to begin from October 2026, subject to regulatory approvals.
