Thailand’s Theme Parks Offer Family-Friendly Experiences

Thailand has long attracted international visitors with its beaches and cultural landmarks, and in recent years, its theme parks have added another dimension to the country’s tourism offerings. These attractions provide spaces for family-oriented leisure and entertainment, balancing water-based fun, cultural performances, and interactive activities.

Thailand’s Theme Park Options

  • Columbia Pictures Aquaverse (Chon Buri): A water park that incorporates film-inspired zones based on titles such as Ghostbusters, Hotel Transylvania, and Jumanji. Visitors can also participate in additional activities, including Thai cooking and surfing lessons.

  • Siam Amazing Park (Bangkok): One of the capital’s larger amusement and water parks, with a wave pool, river, water slides, and around 30 rides. It also features museums, family attractions, and thrill rides, including the suspended looping Vortex roller coaster.

  • Dream World (Pathum Thani Province): Known for attractions including Snow Town, which recreates sub-zero conditions and snowfall. Other features include roller coasters and rides, such as the Tornado and Hurricane, as well as family activities like a carousel, train rides, and animal shows.

  • Phuket FantaSea (Phuket): A cultural theme park combining theatrical shows, dining, and retail areas with Thai folklore and mythology.

  • Safari World Bangkok: A wildlife attraction combining a drive-through safari and a marine park. Visitors encounter a variety of species, including lions, tigers, giraffes, and zebras, alongside scheduled animal and stunt shows.

Theme Parks in a Global Context

The global theme park industry is showing continued recovery and expansion. In 2024, major theme parks worldwide recorded over 260 million visits, up from 244.6 million in 2023. Large operators, such as Walt Disney Parks & Resorts, continue to attract the majority of visitors, while Asian markets — particularly in China, Japan, and Southeast Asia — are expanding steadily.

The market is projected to grow from USD 55.90 billion in 2024 to USD 124.71 billion by 2032, at a compound annual growth rate of 10.55%. Domestic visitors account for the largest share of attendance, driven by rising disposable incomes and seasonal promotions during holidays.

Thailand’s Position

As theme parks become an increasingly important segment of Thailand’s tourism industry, they offer families additional reasons to visit and contribute to the country’s share of the growing global market.
