The Alpina Gstaad Appoints Francesco De Bartolomeis as Executive Chef

The Alpina Gstaad has appointed Francesco De Bartolomeis as Executive Chef, effective summer 2026.

De Bartolomeis brings experience from several European kitchens, with a culinary approach rooted in Italian traditions and contemporary techniques. His style focuses on seasonal ingredients, flavour-driven cuisine, and refined presentation.
Originally from Abruzzo, Italy, he is known for combining Mediterranean influences with a modern culinary perspective. His experience includes working in established restaurant environments, where he has contributed to menu development and kitchen operations.
In his new role, he will lead the hotel’s culinary operations, overseeing menu design, kitchen teams, and dining concepts across the property.
The appointment follows the planned departure of current Executive Chef Martin Göschel at the end of the winter season. As part of the transition, selected dining venues at the hotel will undergo concept updates, with a focus on evolving guest dining experiences.
Commenting on the appointment, Nadine Friedli, General Manager, The Alpina Gstaad, stated, “We would like to sincerely thank Martin Göschel for his outstanding contribution to The Alpina Gstaad and for the many memorable culinary moments he has created for our guests. With Francesco De Bartolomeis, we are now opening a new chapter. His personality, international experience and clear culinary handwriting make him perfectly aligned with our house and with our philosophy of artistry and warm, personal hospitality that allows guests to feel completely at ease and truly belong.”
“I am honoured to join The Alpina Gstaad at this exciting moment. My ambition is to express the beauty of simplicity through honest flavours and precise craftsmanship that speaks to both emotion and a sense of place. I am excited to shape a cuisine that is international in outlook while offering an atmosphere that feels relaxed, welcoming and deeply comforting.” Francesco De Bartolomeis
The appointment marks a new phase in the hotel’s culinary direction, with a continued focus on guest experience and dining innovation.
