TAT Launches Molam Festival to Highlight Isan Music and Culture
The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) is launching the Molam Festival to showcase Isan’s musical heritage and promote sustainable tourism. The festival will be held in Roi Et from September 19 to 21 at Roi Et Tower, and in Udon Thani from September 26 to 28 at Thung Sri Muang. Admission is free, and performances are scheduled daily from 5:00 PM to 12:00 AM.
The program features well-known Molam troupes such as Rabiab Watasilp, Prathom Banterngsilp, San Lao Entertainment Arts, and Seng Esan. It also includes T-Pop artists like Bamm, Instinct, Yes’sirdays, Slapkiss, and Kylinz. This diverse mix of performers bridges the gap between traditional folk music and contemporary styles, fostering cultural exchange across generations.

Molam, known for its rhythms, storytelling, and expressive performances, reflects the cultural identity and character of Northeast Thailand. The festival aims to enhance awareness of this tradition while connecting it with modern creative industries.
As part of TAT’s “5 Must-Do Experiences in Thailand” initiative, the festival includes regional food, cultural showcases, creative workshops, and community markets, positioning Isan as a distinctive travel destination.

The event adheres to a green concept and features activities such as natural dye workshops, craft demonstrations utilising sustainable materials, and food served in biodegradable packaging. Visitors will also have the opportunity to win prizes, including vouchers for hotels, restaurants, and tourism experiences throughout Isan.
