TAT Connects Venice Exhibition with Bangkok Art Biennale 2026
The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) is supporting the Bangkok Art Biennale as part of its efforts to strengthen Bangkok’s position as an international art and cultural destination and to present Thai contemporary art to a wider global audience.
The initiative links the Spirits of Maritime Crossing 2026 exhibition in Venice with the Bangkok Art Biennale 2026 in Thailand, supporting the country’s creative tourism strategy and promoting cultural experiences for international travellers.

TAT Governor Thapanee Kiatphaibool said the organization’s support for Bangkok Art Biennale reflects its focus on culture, creativity, and contemporary Thai identity as part of Thailand’s tourism direction. She added that the project helps create new travel interest while strengthening Bangkok’s international visibility through art and cultural experiences.
Building on Bangkok’s recognition as a UNESCO Creative City of Design, the collaboration aims to present Thai and ASEAN contemporary art to international audiences while supporting TAT’s tourism approach centred on value-driven travel experiences. The project also connects art, heritage, urban culture, and design as part of Thailand’s broader tourism offering.
The Spirits of Maritime Crossing 2026 is presented by Bangkok Art Biennale as a collateral event of the 61st International Art Exhibition – La Biennale di Venezia. The exhibition is being held from 9 May to 2 August 2026 at Palazzo Rocca Contarini Corfù in Venice, Italy.
Curated by Apinan Poshyananda, the exhibition features 20 artists from Southeast Asia, Ireland, Serbia, and other countries. Through performance art, film, installations, paintings, and sculpture, the exhibition explores themes including migration, identity, memory, diaspora, and cultural resilience.
The Bangkok Art Biennale 2026 programme will continue in Thailand from 29 October 2026 to 28 February 2027 under the theme Angels and Mara. The event will feature works by Thai and international artists across museums, cultural sites, religious landmarks, and public venues across Bangkok.
Confirmed venues include Museum Siam, Wat Arun Ratchawararam Ratchawaramahawihan, Wat Phra Chetuphon Wimon Mangkhalaram Ratchaworamahawihan, One Bangkok, and Bangkok Art and Culture Centre.
TAT said its tourism communication strategy will promote the project across domestic and international markets through the Amazing Thailand campaign, editorial content, social media storytelling, and media familiarisation activities. The campaign will also connect exhibition venues with wider tourism experiences across Thailand.
