Sri Lanka showcased its tourism potential at FITUR 2025, a prominent international travel trade fair held annually in Madrid. This year, a delegation of 28 companies represented the dynamic tourism sector of Sri Lanka, highlighting its diverse offerings, such as stunning natural landscapes, rich cultural heritage, and unique experiences tailored for travellers. 

The FITUR event drew a remarkable attendance of 255,000 participants, providing an invaluable opportunity for Sri Lanka to connect with critical stakeholders, including travel agents, tour operators, and tourism industry leaders from around the globe. This engagement is crucial for strengthening partnerships and promoting Sri Lanka as a destination.

In conjunction with FITUR, Sri Lankan tourism officials actively participated in the UN Tourism Committee Meeting on Tourism Competitiveness. Sri Lanka held the influential role of Vice Chair in this meeting, underlining its commitment to driving sustainable tourism practices. Additionally, representatives from the Sri Lankan Embassy in Paris contributed to the discussions, emphasizing the country’s strategic approach to tourism development.
