Radisson Hotel Group Signs Radisson RED Hotel Queenstown, Set to Open in 2028
Radisson Hotel Group has signed Radisson RED Hotel Queenstown, a newly built lifestyle hotel scheduled to open in early 2028. The signing expands the Group’s presence in New Zealand and follows the planned opening of Radisson RED Auckland.
Radisson RED Hotel Queenstown will feature 221 rooms, including four deluxe rooms and five suites. Facilities will include an all-day dining restaurant and bar, a rooftop bar with a terrace, two flexible meeting rooms for small events and creative sessions, and a fully equipped gym.
The hotel is located a seven-minute walk from the centre of Queenstown, within a developing precinct that will include new retail outlets, a supermarket, and dining options. Guest views will take in Coronet Peak, surrounding mountain ranges, and Lake Wakatipu. The location is also expected to benefit from plans to redevelop the adjacent recreation reserve into a community park. Coronet Peak’s ski field is approximately a 15-minute drive away, while walking trails and outdoor activities are accessible year-round.
Queenstown is a four-season destination offering skiing at Coronet Peak and The Remarkables, lakefront walking and cycling trails, access to the Gibbston Valley wine region, and a diverse dining and arts scene. Queenstown Airport is about 16 minutes from the hotel site, with direct flights from major Australian east-coast cities and regular domestic connections.
The project is being developed by Redwood Group, which has delivered multiple developments in the Queenstown region. Tony Gapes, owner of Redwood Group, said the partnership aligns the Radisson RED brand with Queenstown’s character and that the project aims to deliver long-term value to the region.

Lachlan Hoswell, Managing Director, Australasia, Radisson Hotel Group, said Queenstown is well-suited to lifestyle hotel development and noted that the Radisson RED brand combines guest-focused design with the Group’s commercial and operational platforms. He added that the Group looks forward to working with local partners, including Bayleys, on expanding hotel offerings across New Zealand and Australia.
Radisson Hotel Group’s commercial ecosystem includes The Club by RHG, a global revenue community supporting more than 340 hotels, and Pulse by RHG, which provides real-time performance insights. The Group’s EMMA cloud platform and related operational tools are designed to integrate systems, streamline workflows, and manage costs. Radisson Rewards, with more than 25 million members across EMEA and APAC, allows members to earn and redeem points across stays and supports direct booking channels.

The signing of Radisson RED Hotel Queenstown follows the upcoming opening of Radisson RED Auckland, extending the brand’s footprint across both leisure and urban markets in New Zealand. Across the Asia-Pacific region, Radisson Hotel Group continues to expand its premium, lifestyle, and midscale portfolio in gateway cities, resort destinations, and selected secondary markets, supported by a pipeline of openings planned for 2026-2028.
