Qatar Airways launches first flight to The Red Sea, Saudi Arabia

This expansion strengthens the airline’s network in the Kingdom and enhances connectivity to the West Coast through Doha.

Qatar Airways launches flights to Red Sea International Airport, Saudi Arabia

Qatar Airways has launched three weekly non-stop flights between Hamad International Airport (DOH) and Red Sea International Airport (RSI) in Saudi Arabia, operated by daa International.

The Red Sea becomes Qatar Airways’ 12th destination in Saudi Arabia, following services to Abha, AlUla, Dammam, Jeddah, Medina, NEOM, Qassim, Riyadh, Tabuk, Taif, and Yanbu. This expansion strengthens the airline’s network in the Kingdom and enhances connectivity to the West Coast through Doha.

Upon arrival, the Qatar Airways delegation, led by SVP Business Control and Financial Support Abdullah Al Malki and VP Sales Karthik Viswanathan, was welcomed by John Pagano, Group CEO at Red Sea Global, and Andrew Tyler-Smith, CEO of RSI.

Qatar Airways Group CEO Engr. Badr Mohammed Al-Meer said: “This new route expands our network and provides access to The Red Sea destination. It reflects the growing connectivity between the two countries and offers travellers an additional route to Saudi Arabia’s west coast.”

John Pagano, CEO of Red Sea Global, said: “Qatar Airways’ service to RSI provides more international access to The Red Sea destination, supporting tourism development across the region.”

Andrew Tyler-Smith, CEO of Red Sea International Airport, added: “This connection from Doha introduces a gateway to a wider range of destinations and supports the growth of RSI as a regional hub for tourism.”

About The Red Sea destination:

Located along Saudi Arabia’s western coast between Umluj and Al Wajh, the Red Sea comprises over 90 islands, coral waters, desert landscapes, volcanic mountains, and reef systems. The destination currently hosts six resorts, including Shura Island, which opened in 2025 and will feature additional resorts, a golf course, marina, and dining and retail options.

Doha to RSI (QR1226): Tuesday, Thursday, Sunday – Departure 07:45, Arrival 10:45
RSI to Doha (QR1227): Tuesday, Thursday, Sunday – Departure 11:45, Arrival 14:15
