Minor Hotels Opens Porta Rossa Hotel Firenze Under Colbert Collection

Colbert Collection Debuts in Florence With Porta Rossa Hotel

Minor Hotels has opened Porta Rossa Hotel Firenze under its new Colbert Collection brand in Florence. The hotel officially opened on 12 May 2026 following a renovation project that preserved the property’s historical character while introducing updated hospitality facilities.

Located on Via Porta Rossa in Florence’s historic centre, the property is housed in a building first referenced in 1386 and is considered among Italy’s oldest operating hotels. Over the years, the building has evolved from a residence linked to Florence’s silk trade into a hotel reflecting different architectural periods and interior styles.

The property features 69 guestrooms and suites inspired by Renaissance-era interiors, combining historical elements such as frescoed walls and vaulted ceilings with contemporary finishes and furnishings. Several suites have been designed around the building’s history, including the Torre Monalda Signature Suite, located inside a medieval tower overlooking the city.

Public spaces within the hotel include a lobby inspired by traditional Florentine gathering spaces, a bistro bar and a new restaurant concept developed by Michelin-starred chef Paulo Airaudo, scheduled to open in June. The hotel also offers meeting spaces designed for smaller business events and private gatherings.

The hotel is located close to landmarks including the Ponte Vecchio, Uffizi Gallery, Florence Cathedral and Piazza della Signoria.

According to Minor Hotels, Colbert Collection has been created as a premium soft brand that brings together independent hotels with a focus on visual arts, culture, and culinary experiences. Following the Florence opening, the brand is expected to expand with projects in London and Koh Samui.
