IndiGoReach and InterGlobe Foundation Conduct ‘My City My Heritage’ Walk in Ahmedabad

IndiGoReach, the corporate social responsibility arm of IndiGo, and the InterGlobe Foundation, the philanthropic branch of InterGlobe Enterprises, collaborated to host the ‘My City My Heritage’ walk in Ahmedabad. The event, titled “Tracing Stories Through the Lanes of Old Ahmedabad,” provided participants with an opportunity to explore the city’s rich historical and cultural heritage.

The three-hour walk began at the Ahmed Shah Mosque and concluded at Manek Chowk. Participants navigated through narrow streets, squares, traditional pols, and historic homes. Led by heritage expert Khushi Shah, the route showcased Ahmedabad’s architectural and cultural character. The event attracted residents, government officials, and representatives from the InterGlobe Foundation and IndiGo.

‘My City My Heritage’ is an ongoing initiative launched by InterGlobe Foundation in collaboration with Sahapedia. It focuses on raising awareness about India’s cultural and historical heritage, aiming to preserve and promote both the tangible and intangible aspects of this legacy. As part of the campaign, heritage walks have been organized in eight other cities—Prayagraj, Bhubaneswar, Shillong, Nashik, Hyderabad, Kozhikode, Lucknow, and Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar—each showcasing its distinct traditions and built environment.

Rohini Bhatia, Chairperson of InterGlobe Foundation, said, “The ‘My City My Heritage’ walk in Ahmedabad created an opportunity for participants to engage with the city’s history, communities, and spaces. By highlighting Ahmedabad’s heritage, the initiative seeks to encourage appreciation for its cultural context and support tourism that benefits local communities.”

Both the InterGlobe Foundation and IndiGoReach have played significant roles in supporting heritage conservation efforts in India. The InterGlobe Foundation’s projects include the conservation and cultural revival of Abdur Rahim Khan-I-Khanan’s mausoleum in Delhi, cultural mapping of ten cities, restoration of the ‘Indra Kund’ stepwell in Delwara, tile restoration at Qutb Shah’s Mausoleum, and the establishment of Heritage Fellowships. IndiGoReach has contributed to the conservation of Qutb Shah’s Mausoleum at the Qutb Shahi Heritage Park in Hyderabad, as well as the restoration of Lal Bagh Palace in Indore.
