Pieter Elbers: Leading IndiGo to Success

IndiGo CEO Pieter Elbers was honoured with the ‘Executive Leadership: Asia Pacific Award’ at the 2024 Airline Strategy Awards, organized by FlightGlobal and held in London on July 21, 2024. Elbers was recognized for his exceptional strategic leadership at IndiGo and his significant contribution to the industry.

By the end of the decade, IndiGo wants to have doubled in size and scope

This prestigious award is a testament to his impactful leadership. IndiGo is among the fastest-growing airlines globally, with a simple and successful philosophy: affordable fares, on-time flights, and a courteous and hassle-free travel experience across its network of 120+ destinations. In line with India’s global development, IndiGo aims to double in size and scale by the decade’s end. With the introduction of the XLR in 2025 and the A350 in 2027, IndiGo is expanding internationally, developing from a domestic carrier to a global aviation leader.

Speaking at the occasion, Pieter Elbers said, “I am truly honoured to receive the Executive Leadership Award for Asia-Pacific at the 2024 Airline Strategy Awards in London. The Airline Strategy Awards have recognised airline leadership excellence since 2002. They cover eight categories and are organized by FlightGlobal and Korn Ferry. IndiGo is among the fastest-growing low-cost carriers, operating 2000+ daily flights and connecting 88 domestic destinations and 33 international destinations.
