Hotel Indigo to Debut in Sweden with Stockholm Signing
Hotel Indigo Stockholm to Bring Lifestyle Hospitality to Kvarnholmen
IHG Hotels & Resorts has announced the signing of Hotel Indigo Stockholm – Kvarnholmen, marking the brand’s entry into Sweden. Developed by Kvarnholmen Utveckling (KUAB), a joint venture between Peab and JM, the hotel will be operated by 1912 Hotels under a franchise agreement with IHG.
Scheduled to open in 2029, the property will strengthen IHG’s Luxury & Lifestyle portfolio in Northern Europe and expand the company’s presence in Sweden.
Located in Kvarnholmen, a waterfront district in Nacka on Stockholm’s eastern shore, the hotel will form part of an area undergoing significant urban development. The neighbourhood combines industrial heritage with contemporary Scandinavian architecture and offers access to Stockholm city centre, the archipelago and a growing selection of cultural and dining experiences.
Hotel Indigo is known for creating hotels inspired by the character of their local neighbourhoods, incorporating elements of local culture, design and community into the guest experience.
Hotel Indigo Stockholm to Feature 232 Rooms
The hotel will offer 232 guest rooms, along with a range of facilities for both visitors and local residents. Plans include a restaurant and bar, meeting facilities spanning 150 square metres, wellness amenities, social spaces and recreational facilities.
Additional features will include a rooftop pool and terrace, spa and fitness facilities, and an internal atrium with green spaces designed to encourage community engagement.

Willemijn Geels, Vice President Development, Europe, IHG Hotels & Resorts, said Stockholm is a natural fit for the Hotel Indigo brand, reflecting the company’s focus on expanding its presence across the Nordic region.
Representatives from KUAB and 1912 Hotels highlighted the opportunity to create a hotel that reflects Kvarnholmen’s identity while supporting the district’s ongoing development.
Expanding IHG’s Presence in Sweden
Hotel Indigo Stockholm – Kvarnholmen will join IHG’s growing portfolio in Sweden, which includes voco Stockholm – Kista and Ruby Frida in Stockholm.
The signing supports IHG’s wider Nordic growth strategy, where the company currently has 13 open and pipeline properties across the region. Across Europe, Hotel Indigo continues to expand, with 54 hotels currently operating and a further 22 properties in development.
The Stockholm project reflects continued investment in lifestyle hospitality and highlights the growing appeal of neighbourhood-focused hotel experiences across major European cities.
