IHG Opens First Dual–Branded Hotel in Australia: Hotel Indigo Melbourne Little Collins & Holiday Inn Melbourne Bourke Street Mall

IHG Hotels & Resorts has opened its first dual-branded property in Australia — Hotel Indigo Melbourne Little Collins and Holiday Inn Melbourne Bourke Street Mall. Located within the reimagined Melbourne Walk precinct and on the doorstep of Bourke Street Mall, the development follows an eight-year project in the heart of the city.
The opening marks the return of the Holiday Inn brand to Melbourne’s CBD with a refreshed interior design approach. At the same time, Hotel Indigo offers a stay experience inspired by the neighbourhood’s character and history.
Hotel Indigo Melbourne Little Collins

The 179-room boutique hotel integrates Melbourne’s cultural heritage into its design, incorporating four preserved heritage façades – Diamond House, the Public Benefit Bootery, Allan’s and the York Building. Design elements reference the site’s history and local stories, from E.W. Cole’s monkey motifs to a circular bar inspired by Sidney Myer’s drapery store. Artwork by Melbourne-based muralist Lisa King highlights symbols of the city, including references to the Australian Open and Queen Victoria Market.
Guest rooms reflect Melbourne’s laneways and landmarks, while corridors feature coin-style room numbers engraved with a quote from E.W. Cole. The hotel’s restaurant, Fern Bar & Dining, serves modern Melbourne cuisine led by Executive Chef Darryl Hand, with an outdoor courtyard, Fern’s Garden, offering a calm retreat within the CBD.

The hotel includes 92 double-double rooms suitable for families and small groups, along with a 220-square-metre private terrace event space overlooking Bourke Street Mall and Melbourne landmarks.
The in-house restaurant, The Greenery, offers all-day dining in a light-filled setting, including buffet breakfast and a menu of familiar dishes. Kids aged 12 and under eat free under the brand’s Kids Stay & Eat Free programme.
