Kessler Hospitality Appoints Matt Herod as General Manager of Grand Bohemian Lodge Asheville

Kessler Hospitality has announced the appointment of Matt Herod as General Manager of Grand Bohemian Lodge Asheville.

Herod brings close to a decade of leadership experience with Highgate, where he most recently served as Area Managing Director for Salmon Falls Resort and The Ketch Inn in Ketchikan, Alaska. In this role, he oversaw multi-site operations including hotel, marina, food and beverage, and excursion services.

During his tenure with Highgate, Herod also supported a number of task force and interim General Manager assignments across the company’s portfolio, contributing to operational leadership at properties such as Kimpton Hotel Monaco Denver, Beaver Creek Lodge, Winter Park Mountain Lodge, Crested Butte Elevation Hotel & Spa, and Scottsdale Plaza Resort, among others.

Earlier in his career, he held senior Rooms Division leadership roles at Talkeetna Alaskan Lodge, Grande Denali Lodge, and Denali Bluffs Hotel, where he managed operations for properties with up to 280 rooms and multi-million-dollar budgets.

Herod holds an Associate of Arts in Business from Glendale Community College and has previously served as Chair for Southeast Alaska with the Alaska Hotel & Lodging Association.

The appointment reflects Kessler Hospitality’s focus on strengthening leadership at its properties as it continues to enhance guest experience and operational performance.
