Georgia Strengthens Its Appeal Among Indian Travellers
Georgia is increasingly becoming a preferred destination for Indian travellers, as evidenced by a steady rise in visitor numbers and its growing visibility on the global tourism map. The country offers a unique blend of year-round activities, rich cultural heritage, stunning cinematic locations, and warm hospitality, making it an attractive option for Indian tourists. In 2024, Georgia welcomed 124,000 visitors from India. Furthermore, in the first six months of 2025, arrivals from India increased by 40% compared to the same period in the previous year.
Expanding Presence in India
“We are positioning ourselves more and more on the world tourism map. Georgia has its own place, its own brand, and its own signature. What makes me proud is that the number of visitors from India is constantly increasing, making India one of our fastest-growing and most valued markets. Indian travellers are not only exploring our vibrant cities but are also discovering Georgia’s pristine landscapes and national parks. Their enthusiasm for nature and culture inspires us to keep diversifying and enhancing our tourism offerings.
I would also like to acknowledge the outstanding efforts of the Georgian National Tourism Administration and Think Strawberries, our representatives in India, whose dedicated work has played a vital role in strengthening Georgia’s presence in this important market,” said Vakhtang Jaoshvili, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Georgia to the Republic of India.
Roadshows in Delhi and Mumbai
Georgia recently held roadshows in Delhi and Mumbai, organized by the Georgian National Tourism Administration in collaboration with their Indian representative, Think Strawberries. These events attracted over 100 travel agents and lifestyle influencers, showcasing Georgia’s tourism offerings and creating opportunities for further collaboration with Indian travel partners.
Key Georgian stakeholders, including Kazin DMC, Travel Bee LLC, Georgian Travel Group, Adjara Tour, Georgian Travel Club, Mayflower Travel & Tourism, Voyager, Georgia Adventure Club DMC, Vector, Georgian Holidays, and LLC Guide of Georgia, participated in the roadshows, highlighting the collective effort to engage with the Indian market.
Accessibility and Connectivity
Georgia provides a simplified e-visa process, with approvals usually granted within three to four days. Furthermore, Indian travellers who possess valid Schengen, US, UK, or Australian visas or residence permits can enter Georgia without a visa. The direct air connectivity enhances this access, with IndiGo Airlines offering daily flights from Delhi and three weekly flights from Mumbai, along with one-stop connections through Gulf carriers.
Beyond Tourism

India and Georgia share longstanding cultural ties dating back centuries. Today, over 21,000 Indian students study in Georgia, and the popularity of Indian cinema, cuisine, and cricket continues to grow. This people-to-people connection is helping to deepen the relationship between the two countries beyond tourism.
Georgia on the Screen

Georgia’s diverse landscapes and historic cities have attracted Indian filmmakers to numerous high-profile projects, including “Special Ops Season 2,” “Billa II,” “Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy,” and “Mom.” This exposure has established Georgia as an appealing destination for travellers who are inspired by the stunning visuals they see on screen.
Sustainability and Outdoor Experiences

Georgia is committed to sustainable tourism and the preservation of its natural heritage. Indian travellers rank second among foreign visitors to Georgia’s national parks, underscoring their interest in eco-tourism and outdoor activities.
