Emirates Launches Third Daily Flight to Cape Town

Emirates Expands Cape Town Services with New Daily Flight

Emirates has launched its third daily service between Dubai and Cape Town, strengthening connectivity between South Africa and the airline’s global network. The inaugural EK778 flight also marked the debut of the Airbus A350 in South Africa.

The introduction of the A350 brings Emirates’ latest cabin products to the route, including Premium Economy, alongside updated Business, Economy and inflight entertainment offerings. The new service provides South African travellers with additional flight options and improved connections to destinations across West Asia, Australasia and the Far East via Dubai.

Afzal Parambil, Emirates’ Regional Manager for Southern Africa, said Cape Town remains an important destination on the airline’s African network, and the additional daily service reflects continued demand while providing passengers with greater travel flexibility.

The new flight also supports the partnership signed in April 2026 between Emirates and Wesgro, the tourism, trade and investment promotion agency for Cape Town and the Western Cape. The collaboration aims to increase visitor arrivals from key markets, including the Gulf region, India and the Far East.

Alongside the Cape Town expansion, the airline has reinstated its fourth daily service to Johannesburg from 1 July 2026, increasing its operations to 56 weekly flights across its three South African gateways. The airline has also introduced a refurbished Airbus A380 on selected Johannesburg services, featuring its Premium Economy cabin.

The additional flights also enhance cargo capacity, allowing Emirates SkyCargo to transport South African exports, including fresh produce, seafood, meat, dairy products and flowers, to international markets through Dubai.

The expanded services enhance the airlines’ footprint in South Africa and boost passenger travel, tourism, and global trade.
