Emirates Marks Ramadan with Iftar Services, Inflight Offerings and Cultural Content
Reflecting the spirit of togetherness and generosity during the Holy Month of Ramadan, Emirates is supporting fasting customers across its network with iftar services, inflight amenities, Ramadan-themed lounge dining, religious and entertainment content on ice, and staff awareness initiatives.
Iftar boxes at boarding gates
To support fasting customers, complimentary iftar boxes are distributed at select Emirates boarding gates during iftar. Each box contains water, laban, a banana, and dates to help customers break their fast comfortably.
Ramadan meal boxes and prayer mats onboard
Throughout Ramadan, customers breaking their fast on selected routes across all cabin classes are offered specially prepared Ramadan meal boxes. These nutritionally balanced boxes include dates; Arabic mezze such as hummus, moutabel, or muhammara with Arabic bread; a chicken mossakan or herbed chicken sandwich; sweet items such as baklawa varieties or pistachio mamoul; and laban. The Ramadan boxes are served alongside the regular hot meal service.
To support fasting accuracy inflight, Emirates uses a dedicated calculation tool to determine imsak and iftar times based on the aircraft’s longitude, latitude, altitude, and the sun’s position. At sunset, the captain informs customers of the official iftar time.
Prayer mats are available on board upon request and are offered as keepsakes during the Holy Month.
