Delta Distributes $1.3 Billion in Profit Sharing to Employees Worldwide

Delta Air Lines has distributed $1.3 billion in profit sharing to employees for 2025, reflecting 8.9% of eligible annual earnings, or the equivalent of more than four weeks of additional pay on average.

The payout coincides with the company’s annual Profit Sharing Day, traditionally held around Valentine’s Day, which recognises employee contributions to Delta’s performance. Since introducing the programme in 2007, profit sharing has remained a central element of the airline’s employee compensation framework.

Commenting on the distribution, Ed Bastian, Chief Executive Officer of Delta Air Lines, said the airline’s approach is grounded in the belief that sharing financial results with employees supports long-term business performance. Since 2015, Delta has distributed more than $11 billion in profit sharing to employees worldwide.

Under Delta’s profit-sharing formula, employees receive 10% of the airline’s first $2.5 billion in earnings and 20% of earnings above that level. The 2025 payout ranks among the larger distributions in the company’s history.

Global Distribution

The profit-sharing payments were distributed across Delta’s global workforce, with the largest allocations in the United States. Georgia-based employees received $567.9 million, followed by New York at $171.1 million, Minnesota at $113.7 million, Michigan at $112 million and California at $84 million. Additional distributions were made in other U.S. states, as well as in international regions, including Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Asia-Pacific, Latin America, and North America outside the U.S.
