Club Med Opens Reservations for New Borneo Resort
Club Med has announced that reservations for Club Med Borneo will open on 24 March 2026. The resort, located in Kuala Penyu, Sabah, is scheduled to welcome its first guests in November 2026. It will be the brand’s second property in Malaysia, following Club Med Cherating.

Situated about 90 minutes from Kota Kinabalu International Airport, the resort is positioned between rainforest landscapes and the South China Sea. The architecture draws inspiration from traditional Rumah Rungus longhouses, reflecting regional design elements and integrating with the surrounding environment.

The resort will feature 400 guest rooms, including 39 Exclusive Collection Suites. Facilities will include a main infinity pool, a family splash park, multiple dining venues and a dedicated Exclusive Collection space offering a private lounge, swimming pool and bar. Dining options include The Alam, a buffet-style restaurant serving international and regional dishes; The Laut, a gourmet restaurant with an adjoining bar; and The Pasir, the resort’s main bar.

Family-focused facilities include Club Med’s Kids’ Club programmes for guests aged four months to 17 years, along with evening entertainment at the main theatre. The property will also offer four meeting rooms for events and corporate gatherings, as well as a spa designed as a series of chalets set within forest surroundings.
Guests will have access to curated activities and excursions across the region. These include visits to Mari-Mari Cultural Village, snorkelling trips to Pulau Tiga, and river safaris in Sabah’s wetlands where wildlife such as hornbills and proboscis monkeys can be observed.
Spanning approximately 17 hectares, the resort is being developed in partnership with Golden Sands Beach Resort City Sdn Bhd. The project is expected to create more than 350 direct and indirect jobs in the Kuala Penyu region.
The development also incorporates sustainability measures aligned with Club Med’s Happy to Care programme, including reduced single-use plastics, energy- and water-efficiency systems, and environmental awareness initiatives developed with local conservation partners.
