Bangkok–Beijing Friendship Caravan launched to mark 50 years of Thai–Chinese relations
The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), in cooperation with the Thai–Chinese Friendship Association, has launched the “Bangkok–Beijing Friendship Caravan” to commemorate the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Thailand and China.
The 16-day journey, taking place from October 10 to 25, 2025, will cover more than 5,000 kilometres, beginning at Sanam Luang in Bangkok and concluding at Tiananmen Square in Beijing.
The ceremonial launch was presided over by Mr. Korn Dabbaransi, former Deputy Prime Minister and President of the Thai–Chinese Friendship Association, with the participation of Mr. Yang Xiao Long, Minister Counsellor (Cultural Section), Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Thailand, and Ms. Thapanee Kiatphaibool, TAT Governor. Senior executives from TAT, representatives from BYD Auto Thailand, and Siam Dragon (Asia Pacific) were also present.
The caravan will include 15 BYD Sealion 6DMH vehicles travelling through key cultural and historic sites such as Xishuangbanna, Kunming, Guiyang, Zhangjiajie National Forest Park, Xi’an, and Pingyao before arriving in Beijing for an official ceremony marking the diplomatic milestone. Participants will then return to Bangkok by air.

Ms. Thapanee Kiatphaibool, TAT Governor, said: “This journey highlights the friendship between Thailand and China while promoting cultural and tourism exchanges. It also supports greater two-way travel, encouraging Thai visitors to explore China and welcoming Chinese travellers to Thailand.”
The Bangkok–Beijing caravan is being covered by CCTV, China Daily, PPTV, and major online platforms in China, with an expected reach across a broad audience. BYD and Workpoint TV support the initiative.
