Air India and Tourism Ministry Sign MoU to Promote Incredible India

The Ministry of Tourism and Air India have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to promote India as a global tourism destination under the Incredible India campaign while supporting the country’s position as an international aviation and transit hub.

The agreement establishes a framework for collaboration across tourism marketing, destination promotion, travel trade engagement, transit tourism and visitor experience initiatives.

The partnership will combine Air India’s international network with the Ministry of Tourism’s promotional activities to increase India’s visibility in key overseas markets and encourage more international travellers to explore the country’s cultural, heritage, natural and leisure destinations.

Nipun Aggarwal, Chief Commercial Officer, Air India, said the airline will work with the Ministry of Tourism to promote India across its expanding international network and introduce more overseas travellers to the country’s tourism offerings.

P. Balaji, Group Head – Governance, Risk, Compliance & Corporate Affairs, Air India, said the agreement reflects the shared objective of using aviation and tourism to strengthen India’s presence in international markets. He added that the partnership will create new opportunities for travellers to experience destinations across the country.

Under the MoU, Air India and the Ministry of Tourism will jointly undertake co-branded marketing campaigns across digital platforms, social media, inflight channels and other customer touchpoints. The collaboration will also explore extending Incredible India branding across Air India’s services.

The two organizations will work together with tour operators, travel trade partners and industry stakeholders through international roadshows, tourism exhibitions, familiarization trips and other promotional activities to support inbound tourism.

The partnership will also involve collaboration with State Tourism Boards to showcase destinations across India and support tourism-led initiatives.

As the airline expands its hubs in Delhi and Mumbai, both organizations will look for ways to boost transit and stopover tourism by launching specialized stopover programs. The MoU also outlines plans to evaluate tourism perks via the airline’s Maharaja Club loyalty scheme, along with exclusive deals for travelers visiting cultural landmarks, heritage sites, museums, and various tourism attractions throughout India.
