Four Seasons Maldives Highlights Conservation Initiatives

Four Seasons Resorts Maldives is marking World Conservation Day by highlighting its ongoing environmental initiatives across Four Seasons Resort Maldives at Landaa Giraavaru and Four Seasons Resort Maldives at Kuda Huraa.

The resorts continue to integrate conservation into their operations through programmes focused on marine life protection, coral reef restoration and sustainable practices, while offering guests opportunities to learn about the Maldives’ natural environment.

One of the resort’s long-running initiatives is the Sea Turtle Conservation Programme, which has spent the past 15 years rescuing and rehabilitating injured sea turtles. More than 500 turtles have received care through the programme, with many successfully returned to the ocean.

Working with Reefscapers, the resorts have also planted their 9,000th coral frame, supporting the restoration of coral reefs surrounding the islands.

The conservation programme also includes Flying Turtles, an initiative that provides permanent homes in accredited aquariums for turtles that cannot be released back into the wild because of permanent injuries. Turtles capable of recovery, particularly Olive Ridley turtles, are rehabilitated and released. One of the programme’s success stories is Peggy, a rescued turtle that returned to the ocean after rehabilitation.

Four Seasons Resorts Maldives also collaborates with the Maldives Manta Conservation Programme, in partnership with Manta Trust, supporting long-term research and conservation of manta ray populations across the Maldives.

The resorts have also adopted sustainability measures within their daily operations, including an on-site water bottling plant to reduce single-use plastics and the use of locally grown produce across their restaurants.

Beyond environmental initiatives, the company has completed 25 years of its Apprenticeship Programme, helping young Maldivians develop skills for careers in hospitality while supporting employment opportunities within the local community.

Marking World Conservation Day, Four Seasons Resorts Maldives continues its focus on marine conservation, sustainable operations and community development across its island resorts.
