Saudia Partnership with Garuda Indonesia Expands Connectivity

Saudia and Garuda Indonesia have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to advance a joint business partnership aimed at strengthening connectivity between the two airlines and expanding travel options for passengers.

The agreement builds on the carriers’ existing codeshare partnership and their shared membership in the SkyTeam alliance. It will allow both airlines to explore single-ticket travel across their combined networks, linking Garuda Indonesia’s destinations in Indonesia and Australia with Saudia’s network across the Middle East, Europe and Africa.

The MoU also outlines plans to explore cooperation in network planning, flight schedules between Saudi Arabia and Indonesia, as well as sales, marketing and distribution in shared markets.

In addition, the airlines will examine opportunities to work together on loyalty programmes, technology infrastructure, airport services, and travel services for Umrah and Hajj passengers travelling between Indonesia and Saudi Arabia.

The agreement was signed in the presence of H.E. Engr. Ibrahim Al-Omar, Director General of Saudia Group, and Thomas Sugiarto Oentoro, Vice President Director of Garuda Indonesia. The MoU was signed by Arved von zur Muehlen, Chief Commercial Officer at Saudia, and Neil Raymond Mills, Director of Transformation at Garuda Indonesia.

Arved von zur Muehlen, Chief Commercial Officer at Saudia, said, “This MoU builds on the strong foundation of cooperation between Saudia and Garuda Indonesia and reflects Saudia’s strategic focus on building high-value partnerships that strengthen air connectivity. Through this agreement, we aim to offer guests more flexible travel options between Indonesia, Australia and Saudia’s network across the Middle East, Europe and Africa.”

Neil Raymond Mills, Director of Transformation at Garuda Indonesia, said, “The collaboration between Garuda Indonesia and Saudia holds strategic value, not only through the expansion of flight networks but also by strengthening Indonesia’s connectivity with the Middle East, Europe and Africa. These regions remain important for pilgrimage travel, community mobility, business connectivity and broader economic cooperation.”

The partnership marks the next phase of cooperation between the two airlines, supporting improved connectivity between Saudi Arabia and Indonesia while providing passengers with wider access to destinations across both networks.
