BermudAir Orders Airbus A220 Aircraft for Fleet Expansion

BermudAir has placed its first aircraft order with Airbus, signing an agreement for 10 A220-300 aircraft. The order, which appeared in the Airbus order book as an undisclosed customer in March 2026, was formally announced during the Farnborough Airshow.

The airline said the A220-300 will support its expansion plans by enabling new routes across Bermuda, the Caribbean and North America, while providing greater operational flexibility.

Adam Scott, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of BermudAir, said the A220 will support the airline’s next stage of growth, offering the range and efficiency needed to connect more destinations with direct services. He added that the aircraft’s cabin design aligns with the passenger experience the airline aims to provide.

Benoît de Saint-Exupéry, Executive Vice President of Sales for Airbus Commercial Aircraft, said BermudAir’s decision to select the A220-300 highlights the aircraft’s suitability for regional operations and supports the airline’s network expansion plans.

The A220-300 aircraft will feature a 135-seat, three-class cabin configuration, allowing BermudAir to introduce non-stop services between destinations across the Atlantic and Caribbean while improving scheduling flexibility.

According to Airbus, the A220 offers a 25% reduction in fuel burn and carbon dioxide emissions per seat compared with previous-generation aircraft, supporting airlines in improving operational efficiency while lowering emissions.

Designed to carry 100 to 160 passengers, the A220 has a range of up to 3,600 nautical miles (6,700 kilometres). As of the end of June 2026, Airbus had delivered 526 A220 aircraft to more than 25 operators, with the programme’s order book exceeding 1,100 aircraft.
