IHG Expands Italy Portfolio Beyond 50 Hotels with New Signings
Italy Growth Continues as IHG Adds Four New Hotels
IHG Hotels & Resorts has announced the signing of four new hotels in Italy, taking its portfolio in the country to more than 50 open and pipeline properties. The latest agreements reflect the company’s ongoing expansion across key cities and leisure destinations.
The new additions include Crowne Plaza Milan NoLo, Staybridge Suites Milan NoLo, Hotel Indigo Apulia Alberobello and Garner Hotel Turin Porta Nuova. The projects strengthen IHG’s presence across different market segments while supporting its strategy of working with local owners and operators.

Willemijn Geels, Vice President, Development, Europe, IHG Hotels & Resorts, said that reaching the milestone of more than 50 open and pipeline hotels highlights the company’s continued growth in Italy and owners’ confidence in its brands. She added that IHG sees further opportunities across both city and leisure destinations and remains focused on expanding its footprint in the country.
Dual-Branded Hotel Planned for Milan
IHG will introduce a dual-branded Crowne Plaza and Staybridge Suites property in Milan’s NoLo district. The project involves converting an existing hotel into a mixed upper-upscale and extended-stay offering with 167 Crowne Plaza rooms and 96 Staybridge Suites apartments.
Owned by Reinvest, the development is scheduled to open in January 2027 and will mark the debut of the Staybridge Suites brand in Milan. Facilities will include restaurants, bars, a swimming pool, fitness amenities and meeting spaces covering 1,000 square metres.
Located close to Turro Metro Station and within easy reach of Milan’s city centre, the hotel will cater to both business and leisure travellers.
Hotel Indigo to Enter Apulia Region
IHG has also signed Hotel Indigo Apulia Alberobello, marking the brand’s first property in the Apulia region. Owned by AG Group, the 129-room hotel is expected to open in 2028.
Situated near the UNESCO-listed town of Alberobello, the property will reflect the area’s culture and heritage through its design and guest experience. Planned facilities include a spa, fitness centre and congress facilities.
Garner Brand Expands to Turin
The company will also introduce the Garner brand to Turin by converting a 57-room hotel opposite Torino Porta Nuova railway station.
Operating under a franchise agreement with Gruppo Stay, the hotel is scheduled to open in mid-2027 and represents IHG’s first partnership with the Italian hotel group. The project will further strengthen the company’s presence in Turin and support the growth of the Garner brand in Southern Europe.
IHG currently operates 32 hotels in Italy across brands including Six Senses, InterContinental, Hotel Indigo, voco, Crowne Plaza, Garner, Holiday Inn and Holiday Inn Express, with a further 20 hotels in development.
