Delta Service Continues to Strengthen Ecuador–US Connectivity

Delta Air Lines has marked 20 years of operating its Quito–Atlanta route, a service that has connected Ecuador with the airline’s international network since 2006. Over the past two decades, the route has supported tourism, trade and cultural exchange between Ecuador and the United States.

The airline commemorated the milestone in Quito with government representatives, tourism stakeholders, business partners, customers and media. The event recognised the role the route has played in facilitating business travel, leisure trips, education opportunities and family connections, while also supporting cargo transportation between the two markets.

Since launching the service with a Boeing 757, Delta has upgraded operations to a Boeing 767-300, reflecting its continued investment in passenger comfort, operational efficiency, and sustainability. The airline also carries cargo on the route, supporting Ecuador’s export sector and trade links with the United States.

Speaking at the event, Diego Ospina, Delta’s Director of Sales for South America, said the Quito–Atlanta service remains an important gateway connecting Ecuador with North America and other international destinations while contributing to tourism, business and trade growth.

The airline has also expanded its onboard offerings in recent years, introducing Delta One and Delta Premium Select cabins on long-haul international routes, along with lounge access, complimentary Wi-Fi for SkyMiles members, and personalised digital services through the Delta Sync platform.

The airline’s partnership with LATAM Airlines has further improved connectivity for travellers from Ecuador. Since the launch of their joint venture in 2022 and its expansion into Ecuador in 2024, customers have gained access to an extensive network of destinations across North and South America, along with shared loyalty and lounge benefits.

LATAM’s domestic network within Ecuador also supports connections to key business and leisure destinations, providing travellers with additional routing options between Ecuador and the United States.

As international travel continues to recover and grow, the airline says it remains committed to strengthening its presence in Ecuador and maintaining links between the country and destinations across its global network.
