Barceló Expands Global Role Through WTTC Membership

Barceló Hotel Group has joined the World Travel & Tourism Council as a Global Member, marking its participation in a network of travel and tourism industry stakeholders working on sector-wide priorities.

Founded in Mallorca in 1931, the Barceló Group operates across Europe, the Americas, Africa, and the Middle East. Its portfolio includes 288 hotels across four brands, spanning boutique properties, resorts, and urban hotels. The company also operates in the United States through Crestline Hotels & Resorts, extending its presence in that market.

In March 2026, Barceló announced a strategic alliance with Kempinski Group to manage a portfolio of hotels. The company has also introduced several new properties this year, including Royal Hideaway Casablanca and Occidental Casablanca Medina in Morocco, Barceló Roma in Italy, Barceló Dresden Newa in Germany, Occidental Istanbul City in Turkey, and Occidental Cairo Gran Museum in Egypt.

Sustainability remains a key area of focus for the group through its Barceló ReGen programme, which aims to reduce environmental impact while contributing to local communities and economies.

Gloria Guevara, President and CEO of WTTC, said the addition of Barceló Group further strengthens the organisation’s work on sustainable and inclusive tourism development. Simon Pedro Barceló, Executive Co-Chairman of Barceló Group, noted that the membership aligns with the company’s focus on long-term value creation within the travel and tourism sector.

As a Global Member, Barceló Group will collaborate with WTTC and its network to support initiatives and policies that strengthen sustainability, resilience, and inclusion across the industry.
