InterContinental Danang Introduces Nature-Based Activities at Son Tra Peninsula

New experiences focus on ecology, wildlife awareness and conservation

InterContinental Danang Sun Peninsula Resort has introduced a series of nature-based activities designed to help guests engage with the environment of the Son Tra Peninsula in central Vietnam.

The area is home to a wide range of biodiversity, including the red-shanked douc langur, as well as numerous plant species, birds, butterflies, and other wildlife. The resort’s latest initiatives aim to provide guests with a deeper understanding of the region’s ecosystem.

Guided ecowalk and jungle exploration

One of the new activities is a guided Ecowalk, a one-kilometre route through the surrounding rainforest led by a resort expert. The walk highlights local flora and fauna, including birdlife and insects that are often overlooked.

Guests can also take part in a guided jungle hike to an 800-year-old banyan tree located within the Son Tra Peninsula. The experience includes insights into the local ecosystem and an opportunity to explore the forest environment along a designated trail.

Wildlife expedition and coastal experiences

The Son Tra Wildlife Expedition offers a guided journey through the peninsula, often called “Monkey Mountain”. This half-day experience focuses on the region’s biodiversity, with opportunities to observe wildlife and learn about local plant species, including those used in traditional practices.

For younger guests, the InterContinental resort offers beach and garden-based activities through its children’s programme. These include exploring marine life along the shoreline, learning about pollinating insects and participating in planting activities within the resort’s garden spaces.

Focus on environmental awareness

The activities have been developed with input from the resort’s resident naturalist and are designed to support awareness of conservation and responsible tourism.

The InterContinental resort has also undertaken initiatives such as tree-planting programmes in collaboration with local authorities, alongside ongoing efforts to manage operations in an environmentally conscious manner.
