American Airlines Adds Flights and Expands Access Ahead of FIFA World Cup 26

American Airlines is introducing additional support for customers ahead of the FIFA World Cup 26. The airline is expanding flight options, increasing opportunities to redeem AAdvantage miles for match tickets, and launching exclusive AAdvantage Perks available only through American. To mark its role as the Official North American Airline Supplier of FIFA World Cup 26, the airline will also introduce aircraft decals across its domestic fleet and roll out a new marketing campaign leading up to the FIFA World Cup 26 Final Draw in Washington, D.C., on December 5.

Expanded Flight Connectivity for Match Travel

Once fans know the locations and times of their preferred matches, American will add additional flights across the 16 host cities in the United States, Canada, and Mexico. The airline is increasing frequencies and deploying larger aircraft on several routes, supporting travel from the group stage through the final.

“American is prepared with its plan for FIFA World Cup 26, adding an extra 27,000 seats on 12 routes this summer,” said Brian Znotins, American’s Senior Vice President of Network Planning.

“With more flights to all host cities, we aim to support fans as they participate in this moment across North America.”

In addition to expanded service on routes such as Los Angeles–Seattle and Boston–Dallas–Fort Worth, American is launching new nonstop flights on select routes, including Atlanta–Kansas City, during the quarter.

Miles Redemption for Match Tickets

AAdvantage members will have access to redeem miles for FIFA World Cup 26 match tickets. Early access will be based on member status:

  • Dec. 17 — AAdvantage Executive Platinum and ConciergeKey members

  • Dec. 18 — AAdvantage Gold, Platinum, and Platinum Pro members

  • Dec. 19 — All AAdvantage members

Members are encouraged to enable push notifications in the American app for timely updates.

Additional Earning Opportunities

AAdvantage members can earn miles and Loyalty Points by flying or through partner engagements. Members can currently save up to 40% on AAdvantage miles purchases. Enrollment in the program is free via the American Airlines website.

AAdvantage Perks and Sweepstakes

Beginning December 6, members can enter daily sweepstakes at fwc26perks.com for a chance to win experiences such as:

  • Opening match tickets

  • Group stage matches

  • U.S. Men’s National Team match access

  • Viewing a match with a FIFA Legend

These opportunities are available exclusively to AAdvantage members.

Fleet Decals and Creative Campaign

As part of its sponsorship, more than 1,550 aircraft in the domestic fleet will feature custom FIFA World Cup 26 decals, produced in partnership with Qatar Airways. The decals will be installed by the end of December.

The airline is also launching new creative content across television, digital platforms, and social media. This includes the digital “Now Boarding: Super Fans” campaign and a 30-second broadcast feature titled “Fandom Takes Flight.”
