Swiss International Air Lines (SWISS), in collaboration with Swiss Federal Railways (SBB) and Jungfrau Railways, has added Grindelwald to its Air Rail network. The new connection allows international travellers to reach the Bernese Alps through an integrated air and rail journey.

The service is now available, with bookings open from 26 March via the airline’s website and travel agencies. With this addition, the SWISS Air Rail network now covers 25 destinations across Switzerland, Germany and Austria.

The expansion builds on the earlier addition of Interlaken and extends connectivity across the Bernese Oberland. The rail segment between Interlaken and Grindelwald is operated by Jungfrau Railways.

Passengers using the Air Rail service receive a single booking that includes both flight and rail travel. Boarding passes cover the full journey, and rail tickets can be used flexibly from the day before departure to the day after arrival.

The service also includes provisions such as guaranteed connections in case of delays. Members of the airline’s loyalty programme can earn miles on Air Rail tickets, while Business and First Class passengers receive access to corresponding rail travel classes.

The addition of Grindelwald reflects the continued development of combined air and rail connectivity, offering travellers access to key destinations through coordinated transport services.
