IHG Hotels & Resorts to Open Crowne Plaza Parramatta in Partnership with Urban Property Group
IHG Hotels & Resorts has announced a partnership with developer-builder Urban Property Group (Urban) to open Crowne Plaza Parramatta in the centre of Sydney’s growing second CBD.
Scheduled to open in 2029, the 217-room hotel will form part of a mixed-use development located opposite Parramatta Train Station, with direct connectivity to the station and the nearby Westfield Parramatta shopping and lifestyle precinct.
Crowne Plaza Parramatta will include an all-day dining restaurant, a lobby bar, flexible meeting and event spaces, and a rooftop infinity pool with an outdoor terrace. The property aims to serve business travellers, event delegates, and leisure guests visiting the area.
Parramatta continues to develop as Sydney’s second CBD, driven by growth in commerce, education, health, and culture. Upcoming attractions such as the Powerhouse Parramatta Museum and the expanded Riverside Theatre precinct, along with improved accessibility from the Western Sydney International Airport, which opens in 2026, are expected to strengthen the area’s position as a key urban hub.

Matt Tripolone, Managing Director, Australasia & Pacific, IHG Hotels & Resorts, said, “We are pleased to partner with Urban to bring the Crowne Plaza brand to Parramatta. The location aligns with our strategy to grow in key business and urban centres across Australia.”

Patrick Elias, Co-CEO of Urban, added, “Partnering with IHG Hotels & Resorts marks an important step for us as we introduce our first hotel project. Crowne Plaza Parramatta will form an integral part of our mixed-use development and contribute to Parramatta’s growth as a major commercial and visitor destination.”
Crowne Plaza Parramatta will become part of IHG’s growing portfolio in Australia, which includes Crowne Plaza Sydney Darling Harbour, Crowne Plaza Melbourne, and Crowne Plaza Adelaide Mawson Lakes. Worldwide, the Crowne Plaza brand operates 415 hotels and has 144 in development.
