Watch: First Trial Run Of Mumbai’s Underground Metro

Mumbai’s first underground metro is all set to change how Mumbaikars travel. For the line, Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation has successfully completed the Research Designs and Standards Organisation trials of Rolling Stock for Metro Line 3, also known as the Aqua Line. Watch its very first trial run!

Mumbai’s Underground Metro

The first ever underground metro line in Mumbai, covering a 33.5 km stretch, is scheduled to be launched in July. The complete train route is penned to start at Aarey Colony and end at Bandra-Kurla Complex, including 27 stations in total, out of which one will be above ground and the rest will be underground.

The stations included in the route are BKC, Cuffe Parade, Vidhan Bhavan, Churchgate, Hutatma Chowk, CST Metro, Kalabadevi, Girgoan, Grant Road, Mumbai Central Metro, Mahalaxmi, Science Museum, Acharya Atre Chowk, Worli, Siddhivinayak, Dadar, Sitaladevi, Dharavi, Vidyanagari, Santacruz, Domestic Airport, Sahar Road, International Airport, Marol Naka, MIDC, SEEPZ, and Aarey Depot.

The train will run from 6:30 AM to 11:00 PM

Once in service, the metro line will run every day from 6:30 AM to 11:00 PM at a speed of up to 90 km per hour. The first phase of the project is complete and will be launched in July. However, the remaining stations have yet to be connected and are said to be finished in the coming eight months.
