Emirates' Travel Advisory for festive season.

Emirates Takes Off with Record Numbers of Festive Flyers

Emirates encourages customers to plan their travel carefully this December due to a significant increase in departures compared to last year. In 2022, over 75,000 Emirates customers departed from Dubai International Airport each day. However, in December 2024, this number could rise to as high as 89,000 on certain days, representing an increase of nearly 20%.

The busiest days for Emirates departures are expected to be December 12-15 and December 20-22, right before Christmas. Additionally, December 27-29, just before New Year's Eve, is also projected to see more than 88,000 customer departures each day.

Emirates recommends that customers arrive at the airport up to three hours before their flight and pay attention to their boarding time to ensure they reach the departure gate punctually. Travellers can take advantage of a variety of check-in and baggage drop options, including Emirates City Check-In & Travel Store, newly refurbished First and Business Class check-in areas at Dubai International Airport, private home check-in services, and remote check-in facilities.

Download the Emirates App to check in online

Download the Emirates app for easy access to flight details. With the app, you can book and change flights, download a digital boarding pass for most destinations, receive notifications about your flight, check the meals that will be served, and pre-order your hot meal if you're travelling in Business Class. Additionally, you can book a chauffeur service and pre-select movies to watch through the ice inflight entertainment system. Customers can also check in online at Emirates.com. Both online check-in and app check-in are available 48 hours before your flight departure.

Drop luggage off at the airport the day before

Emirates customers have the option to drop off their luggage at the airport the night before their flight at no additional charge. Passengers departing from Dubai can check in early and drop off their bags 24 hours prior to departure, or 12 hours before departure for flights to the United States. As the departure time approaches, customers can proceed directly to the immigration area at the airport.

Swift check-in at the Emirates City Check-In & Travel Store

Save time at the airport by checking in at the Emirates City Check-in and Travel Store, located at ICD Brookfield Place, Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC). This conveniently situated facility is in the heart of the business district, allowing Emirates customers to check in, drop off luggage, and enjoy the upscale surroundings from 24 hours to 4 hours before their flight. Customers can check in daily from 8:00 AM to 10:00 PM, starting their travel experience with seamless service through self-check-in kiosks, dedicated desks with Emirates agents, or by using Sara, the world's first robot check-in agent.

Check-In for Emirates flights in Ajman

Travellers starting their journeys from Ajman can benefit from a 24-hour City Check-in service available at the Ajman Central Bus Terminal. Customers can check-in up to 4 hours before their flight departs, check their baggage, and collect their boarding passes. Upon arriving at the airport, they can proceed directly to their flight.

Check-in from your own home

Emirates customers can also opt to check in at home in Dubai and Sharjah. DUBZ agents complete the check-in process in the customer’s home, hotel, or office and take the bags to the flight while customers are free to breeze through the airport later. Travellers can book at least 24 hours before a flight and proceed to the airport check-in up to six hours before the flight departs. The Emirates Home Check-In service is complimentary for First Class customers and Skywards Platinum Members.

Enjoy the world-class airport experience at Dubai International Airport (DXB)

Customers can choose to use Emirates’ self-check-in kiosks at the airport if they haven’t already checked in online, view the travel itinerary, choose a preferred seat and add Emirates Skywards numbers, and use the baggage drop area to check-in bags. In Dubai International Airport, the Emirates First and Business Class Check-In areas have been revamped, providing a serene area to check-in. In Dubai International Airport, Emirates offers priority boarding for families, ensuring kids don’t wait too long and have more time to get settled into their seats, as well as free baby strollers for infants and younger kids in Dubai Airport, providing comfort for tired little legs.

Make sure your baggage meets the requirements

Emirates requests that customers remain vigilant when packing their bags and adhere to the procedures regarding restricted items. Here are some important rules to note:

  • Power banks are permitted in hand baggage but are not allowed in checked luggage.
  • Smart bags can be taken into the cabin, provided that the battery is removable and the bag meets the size and weight limits for cabin baggage. The battery may remain installed if the smart bag is completely powered off.
  • E-cigarettes, including e-cigars, e-pipes, Electric Portable Incense (Perfume) Burners, and other personal vaporizers that contain batteries must be individually protected to prevent accidental activation. These items are only allowed as carry-on luggage.

Pre Order your Duty-Free shopping

Customers looking to save time can pre-order Duty-Free shopping at EmiratesRED.com and gain access to exclusive Duty-Free products, which will be delivered directly to their seats during the flight. This pre-order service is available on most flights, allowing customers to shop from 21 days up to 40 hours before departure by providing their flight details at checkout. The cabin crew will then deliver the order right to the customer's seat while in the air.

Special assistance for People of Determination

During the festive period, People of Determination can receive dedicated support from trained Emirates and airport staff while travelling. This includes a pre-planning guide specifically designed for Dubai International Airport (DXB) for those with hidden disabilities. Passengers are entitled to two hours of complimentary parking at the airport, as well as access to a dedicated priority lane for check-in, passport control, security, and priority boarding if needed. For more information, customers can visit the Accessible Travel page on Emirates.com or contact their local Emirates office with any questions.
