Emirates Group Chairman Meets with NBA Star James Worthy

James Worthy Teams Up with Emirates for NBA Cup 2024

His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman and Chief Executive of Emirates Airline & Group, met with NBA legend James Worthy at Emirates Group Headquarters to kick off the Emirates NBA Cup 2024.

Worthy brought the NBA Cup to commemorate the occasion as Emirates celebrates the arrival of this much-anticipated tournament.

Later in the day, youth basketball players participated in a basketball clinic at Zabeel Park, led by Worthy, as part of the Dubai Fitness Challenge. Kids aged 8 and 13 from Al Nasr Club participated in the clinic, receiving valuable skills training and tips from the basketball legend.

James Worthy dedicated his entire professional basketball career to the Los Angeles Lakers, one of the most storied franchises in NBA history. Over his illustrious career, he earned recognition as a seven-time NBA All-Star, showcasing his exceptional talent and skill on the court. Worthy was named the NBA Finals MVP in 1988, a testament to his outstanding performance during the playoffs and his critical role in leading his team to victory. He played a pivotal part in securing three NBA championship titles for the Lakers in 1985, 1987, and 1988, contributing to the team’s legacy of excellence during the 1980s.
