AirAsia X (AAX) has launched its inaugural direct flight from Kuala Lumpur to Istanbul, marking the airline’s entry into Türkiye and extending its network across Asia and Eurasia.

Flight D7 604 departed Kuala Lumpur International Airport Terminal 2 on 14 November 2025 at 9:35 AM and arrived at Sabiha Gökçen International Airport at 4:05 PM local time. The new service establishes a direct link between Malaysia and Istanbul, a key cultural and economic hub.

This route marks AAX’s first operation to Türkiye and supports the airline’s plan to broaden its long-haul network while maintaining accessible travel options for a broader range of travellers.

Datuk Kamarudin Meranun, Executive Chairman of Capital A, said the Kuala Lumpur–Istanbul route aligns with the company’s focus on connecting Southeast Asia with selected markets across Eurasia. He added that Türkiye presents opportunities for both leisure and business segments, supporting the carrier’s long-haul strategy.

Benyamin Ismail, CEO of AirAsia X, stated that Istanbul has consistently been a high-demand destination among travellers. He noted that the new direct service enhances connectivity between Southeast Asia and Europe, supported by AirAsia’s Fly-Thru options, which span more than 130 destinations. The launch also coincides with preparations for Visit Malaysia 2026, which will contribute to inbound tourism and regional connectivity.

His Excellency Emir Salim Yüksel, Ambassador of the Republic of Türkiye to Malaysia, highlighted the route’s potential to enhance bilateral ties and support broader connectivity between the two nations.

Istanbul offers a diverse range of tourism experiences, renowned for its historical landmarks, vibrant neighborhoods, and rich culinary traditions. Spanning both Asia and Europe, the city continues to attract visitors seeking cultural, commercial, and leisure travel.

AAX will operate four weekly flights between Kuala Lumpur and Istanbul, providing more than 150,000 seats annually. Fare promotions are available for booking through airasia.com and the AirAsia MOVE app.
