Air India Expands Summer Flights to the UK and Europe

Air India’s Summer Flight Expansion

Air India has announced its intention to increase flights on important routes starting 30 March 2025 as part of its Northern Summer schedule. The airline will provide extra services on various popular routes to the UK, Europe, Far East Asia, and Africa.

UK Routes

• Delhi to London Heathrow: 3 extra flights, bringing the total to 24 weekly flights, operated by the A350-900 and upgraded B787-9 aircraft.
• Amritsar to Birmingham: Increased to 4 flights per week.
• Amritsar to London Gatwick: Now 4 flights weekly.
• Ahmedabad to London Gatwick: Growing to 5 weekly flights.

European Routes

• Delhi to Zurich: Frequency increases to 5 weekly flights.
• Delhi to Vienna: 4 weekly flights, up from 3.

Far East Asia

• Delhi to Seoul (Incheon): 5 weekly flights, up from 4.
• Delhi to Hong Kong: Switch from A321 to B787 Dreamliner on all 7 weekly flights.

African Routes

• Delhi to Nairobi: Frequency increases to 4 weekly flights.

Air India’s aircraft modernization is ongoing, with its narrowbody fleet expected to be upgraded by mid-2025. Starting in April 2025, the airline will retrofit its Boeing 787 fleet with new seating and entertainment systems to upgrade two to three B787s monthly. The retrofits for the Boeing 777s, now postponed until early 2026, will also feature new seats and enhancements.

As part of the retrofit program, Air India will temporarily halt its non-stop service from Mumbai to Melbourne from 30 March to 13 September 2025, and it will suspend the Kochi to London Gatwick route indefinitely. Nevertheless, 12 weekly flights to London Gatwick will continue operating from Amritsar, Ahmedabad, and Goa.
