Aena Group Airports recorded 36,998,573 passengers in June 2026, reflecting a 3.5% increase compared to the same month last year. The group also handled 315,153 aircraft movements, up 4.8%, while freight volumes remained stable at 119,430 tonnes.

During the first six months of 2026, Aena Group Airports welcomed 189.96 million passengers, a 3.9% increase year on year. Aircraft movements reached 1.64 million, up 3.2%, while freight traffic grew 1.2% to 739,612 tonnes.

Aena Group Airports Continue Growth in Spain

Spain remained the largest contributor to the group’s performance, with 31.64 million passengers travelling through Aena’s Spanish airport network in June, representing a 3.8% increase over June 2025. The network also handled 266,076 aircraft movements, up 5.9%, while freight traffic totalled 107,503 tonnes.

Between January and June, Spanish airports served 156.25 million passengers, an increase of 3.7%. Although passenger traffic continued to grow, the pace was lower than the 4.5% growth recorded during the same period last year.

Madrid-Barajas remained the busiest airport with 6.09 million passengers, followed by Barcelona-El Prat with 5.46 million and Palma de Mallorca with 4.30 million. Alicante-Elche Miguel Hernández recorded one of the strongest performances among major airports with passenger growth of 10.5%.

International Airports Support Passenger Traffic

Operations across Aena’s international airports also contributed to overall growth. London Luton Airport handled 1.77 million passengers in June, an increase of 9.6%, while passenger traffic during the first half of the year rose 5.1%. Freight volumes declined due to runway resurfacing works that required night-time closures.

In Brazil, Aena’s network of 17 airports served 3.59 million passengers during June. While monthly passenger traffic declined 1.9%, first-half passenger numbers increased 4.1%, with freight volumes growing 7% compared to the same period last year.

Leeds Bradford Airport, which joined the Aena Group in May, recorded 509,178 passengers in June, up 2.2%, and handled 4,104 aircraft movements.

Aena Group Airports Strengthen Global Aviation Network

The latest traffic figures highlight the continued resilience of Aena Group Airports across Europe and South America. Growth in passenger traffic, supported by increased aircraft movements and stable freight volumes, reflects sustained demand across the group’s expanding airport portfolio.

With nearly 190 million passengers handled during the first half of 2026, Aena Group Airports continue to strengthen their position as one of the world’s leading airport operators while supporting international connectivity and aviation growth.
