Turkish Airlines has signed an agreement with HAVELSAN to supply 12 new flight simulators, comprising eight Full Flight Simulators (FFS) and four Flight Training Devices (FTD), as part of its plans to expand pilot training capacity.
The simulators will support the airline’s growing training infrastructure, including its new simulator hangars, whose first phase is scheduled to become operational in 2027, and the new Flight Training Center, expected to be completed in 2028.
Designed and manufactured in Türkiye, the simulators will be integrated into Turkish Airlines’ pilot training facilities, supporting the airline’s long-term fleet expansion plans while strengthening domestic capabilities in aviation training technology.
Prof. Murat Şeker, Chairman of the Board and the Executive Committee of Turkish Airlines, said the investment will support the airline’s objective of expanding its Flight Training Center across three campuses by 2033. He added that the facilities will meet Turkish Airlines’ training requirements while also providing training services for other airlines. He also acknowledged HAVELSAN’s contribution to strengthening Türkiye’s aviation technology capabilities.
Dr. Mehmet Akif Nacar, General Manager of HAVELSAN, said the agreement marks the company’s entry into the wide-body flight simulation segment and reflects its continued collaboration with Turkish Airlines in developing advanced pilot training solutions.
Under the agreement, Turkish Airlines will receive eight Full Flight Simulators and four Flight Training Devices. The airline currently operates seven HAVELSAN-manufactured full flight simulators, including three Airbus A320neo/CEO, three Boeing 737 MAX, and one Boeing 737 NG simulators, all certified to EASA Level D standards.
The new simulators will further strengthen Turkish Airlines’ pilot training infrastructure while supporting compliance with international civil aviation training standards.
