Tree of Life Kanadukathan to Expand IHCL’s Presence in Tamil Nadu

Indian Hotels Company (IHCL) has announced the signing of Tree of Life Kanadukathan in Chettinad, Tamil Nadu. The brownfield project will involve restoring and converting an existing heritage-style Chettiar property into a boutique hotel.

Suma Venkatesh, Executive Vice President – Real Estate & Development, IHCL, said that Chettinad’s architectural heritage and cultural traditions continue to attract travellers seeking authentic local experiences. She added that the project strengthens IHCL’s partnership with the AMPA Group while expanding the Tree of Life brand into another heritage destination.

Located in Kanadukathan, the hotel will feature 20 guest rooms designed to reflect the region’s distinctive architectural style. Facilities will include an all-day dining restaurant, a lounge, a swimming pool, a spa and a fitness centre.

Ampa Palaniappan, Managing Director of AMPA Group, said the partnership with IHCL aims to restore a historic Chettiar property while supporting tourism in the region.

Kanadukathan is known for its heritage mansions, traditional architecture and cultural events, including the Chettinad Heritage Festival, Aadi Perukku and Navaratri, making it a destination for visitors exploring Tamil Nadu’s cultural heritage.

With this signing, IHCL’s portfolio in Tamil Nadu will grow to 33 hotels, including 14 properties under development.
