The Leela Opens Coorg Forest Sanctuary
The Leela Rebrands Coorg Retreat as Forest Sanctuary
The Leela Palaces, Hotels and Resorts has introduced The Leela Coorg Forest Sanctuary as the new identity for its recently acquired retreat in Coorg, Karnataka.
The rebranding reflects the property’s location within 76 acres of forests and coffee plantations in the Western Ghats, while aligning it with the company’s approach of creating hospitality experiences inspired by local landscapes and culture.
A Nature-Focused Retreat in Coorg

The Leela Coorg Forest Sanctuary joins the brand’s growing portfolio of hotels and resorts as a destination centred on nature, wellness and local heritage.
Located within one of Coorg’s oldest coffee estates, the IGBC Platinum-certified retreat has been designed to blend with its natural surroundings. Its architecture draws inspiration from Kodava culture, estate living and the region’s landscape.
The property features 71 villas, including duplex villas, family villas, private pool villas and the four-bedroom Sunbeam Presidential Villa, overlooking the surrounding forest.
Experiences Inspired by the Destination
Guests can take part in guided forest walks, coffee plantation trails, birdwatching, waterfall visits, cycling routes and stargazing, offering opportunities to experience Coorg’s natural environment and cultural heritage.
Dining options include Luma, serving seasonal cuisine; Zen for Pan-Asian dishes; The Cellar; and 92 Degrees, where guests can explore the region’s coffee traditions through curated tastings and estate experiences.
Wellness and Sustainable Design
A seven-acre lake forms the centre of the retreat, while wellness facilities include Aujasya by The Leela, the brand’s wellness programme inspired by Indian traditions.
The 27,000-square-foot wellness centre, outdoor treatment areas and Vinyasa Yoga Deck offer therapies, yoga sessions and mindfulness experiences in a natural setting.

Anuraag Bhatnagar, Chief Executive Officer, The Leela Palaces, Hotels and Resorts, said:
“The unveiling of The Leela Coorg Forest Sanctuary marks an important step in our journey of creating destinations that reflect their surroundings. As we continue to expand our portfolio, this retreat reflects our belief that hospitality experiences should celebrate the character and culture of each destination.”
The Leela said the property reflects its continued focus on expanding across India’s leisure destinations while offering experiences connected to local landscapes, traditions and communities.
