Emirates Launches Travel Rehearsal Programme at Glasgow Airport

Emirates Expands Accessible Travel Initiative in Scotland

Emirates recently hosted a Travel Rehearsal day at Glasgow Airport, marking the first event of its kind in Scotland aimed at supporting travellers with accessibility requirements.

The initiative forms part of Emirates’ Travel Rehearsal programme, designed to help individuals become more familiar with the airport and flying experience before their journey.

Working alongside the Additional Support Needs group Autastic Club, the airline invited children on the autism spectrum and their families to take part in a guided simulation of the full airport process.

Participants experienced check-in, security screening, the departure lounge and a mock boarding process, including onboard announcements. The rehearsal also covered arrival procedures, including immigration, baggage collection, and meeting arriving passengers.

Jabr Al-Azeeby, Divisional Vice President, Emirates UK, said the programme aims to support travellers with accessibility requirements by creating a more familiar and supportive airport environment before they fly.

Angela Armour, Co-founder of Autastic Club, said initiatives like the travel rehearsal help reduce uncertainty for individuals with additional support needs and encourage greater confidence in travel.

The airline said it has trained more than 35,000 cabin crew and ground staff through autism awareness programmes focused on understanding the autism spectrum and supporting passenger needs during travel.

Since April 2025, Emirates Airport Services teams have organized 40 travel rehearsal sessions across multiple airports globally, including London, Delhi, Dubai, Bangalore, Sydney, Toronto and Glasgow.

The airline said the programme is part of its broader efforts to improve accessibility and passenger support across its network.
