Prayagraj Gets Wings: New Flights for Kumbh 2025

k

With the Maha Kumbh approaching, air travel to and from Prayagraj is about to become more convenient. Recently, Air India Express has requested permission to operate flights from Prayagraj to Delhi and Kolkata. This addition will complement the existing services offered by Indigo, Akasa, Alliance Air, and SpiceJet.
“Air India Express has sought permission for flights to two cities, and several other companies are also ready to provide their services for the Maha Kumbh. This will increase the number of companies providing services at Prayagraj Airport to five,” said airport director Mukesh Upadhyay.
Aviation companies, including IndiGo, Akasa Air, and Alliance Air, offer flight services from Prayagraj. Flights are available to Delhi, Mumbai, and eight other cities. SpiceJet has also announced that it will begin its services on January 11. This airline will operate flights to major cities such as Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, and Ahmedabad.
With the introduction of these new flights, Prayagraj will have direct connectivity to 25 major cities during the Maha Kumbh. Akasa Air has released its flight schedule for routes to Delhi and Mumbai, while SpiceJet will launch direct flights to Jaipur. This will be SpiceJet’s fifth flight service from Prayagraj.
Starting on January 12, SpiceJet will also offer flights from Prayagraj to Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, and Ahmedabad. The flight to Jaipur will depart at 9:30 AM and arrive in Jaipur in one hour and 45 minutes. The return flight will leave Jaipur at 7:05 AM and reach Prayagraj at 9:00 AM. This service will only be available during the Maha Kumbh period.
In addition to flight services, helicopter services are also being planned for the Maha Kumbh. The Pawan Hans Company has proposed starting air travel services from Prayagraj Sangam to Ayodhya. Company officials have already met with the district administration to discuss logistics. The helicopter service will give devotees a bird’ s-eye view of the Maha Kumbh area, similar to the service provided by a private company during the 2019 Kumbh.
