State Tourism Ministers Meet in Udaipur to Advance “One State: One Global Destination” Vision

The Ministry of Tourism held a two-day State Tourism Ministers’ Meet in Udaipur on October 14-15, bringing together Tourism Ministers and senior officials from all States and Union Territories to discuss strategies for the development of tourism in India.

The meeting focused on advancing the “One State: One Global Destination” initiative, announced in the Union Budget 2025-26, which aims to develop at least one internationally recognized tourist destination in every State and UT. This aligns with India’s broader Viksit Bharat roadmap.

The inaugural session included opening remarks by Ms. V. Vidyavathi, Secretary (Tourism), followed by an address from Union Minister of Tourism & Culture, Shri Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, who emphasized the need for collaboration between the Centre, States/UTs, and the private sector to implement this vision.

Over the two days, discussions centered on Destination Development and Destination Management strategies. State and UT representatives shared their concepts for developing specific destinations under the national tourism agenda. Key agenda points included:

  1. Development of 50 Destinations – focusing on private sector-led tourism hub development.

  2. Performance Linked Incentives (PLI) – introducing a PLI-based Destination Maturity Model to encourage consistent destination management.

Each State/UT presented one potential destination for development as a global attraction. The second day included consultations on draft Integrated Tourism Promotion Scheme Guidelines, aimed at positioning India as a competitive tourism destination for domestic and international visitors.

The meeting concluded with closing remarks from Shri Suman Billa, Additional Secretary & Director General (Tourism), who thanked participants and confirmed that stakeholder feedback will be incorporated into the final design and implementation of the proposed schemes.

This consultation represents a step toward creating a structured and sustainable tourism ecosystem in India, supporting economic growth and employment opportunities across the country.
