Rohan Khaunte Attends Kiteboarding Championship in Morjim
The YAI All India Windsurfing & Kiteboarding Championship 2026, supported by Goa Tourism, concluded at Vithaldas Vaddo, Morjim, after five days of competition held from March 18 to 22. The event brought together athletes from across India, highlighting the growing interest in windsurfing and kiteboarding.
Championship highlights Goa’s water sports ecosystem
Tourism Minister Rohan A. Khaunte attended the final day, where he interacted with participants and observed the on-water events. He also engaged in kiteboarding, gaining a deeper understanding of the techniques and coordination required.
Speaking at the event, Khaunte noted the role of such competitions in supporting the development of water sports in India and contributing to Goa’s tourism offering. He also emphasised the importance of creating platforms that encourage participation while showcasing the state’s coastal environment.

The Minister felicitated the winners at the closing ceremony, recognizing their performance across the championship. The event also served as a national ranking platform, helping identify athletes for international competitions, including the Asian Games.
Held along Morjim’s coastline, the championship featured windsurfing and kiteboarding events that tested speed, control and endurance, drawing attention from both participants and spectators.
