PATA unveils programme for Destination Marketing Forum 2025 in Thailand

The Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA), in collaboration with the Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau (TCEB), has unveiled the programme for the PATA Destination Marketing Forum 2025 (PDMF 2025). The event will be held at The Heritage Chiang Rai Hotel & Convention in Chiang Rai, Thailand, from 1 to 3 December 2025 and will bring together tourism leaders, marketers, and creative professionals from across the Asia Pacific region.

The PATA forum will be officiated by Mr Napintorn Srisunpang, Minister Attached to the Prime Minister’s Office of the Kingdom of Thailand, during the main conference.

The event is designed to explore strategies for enhancing destination branding, sustainable tourism development, and community-led travel experiences. The theme for the 2025 edition is “Steeped in Tradition, Rooted in Wellness: Weaving the Meaningful Narrative of Travel”, with sessions focusing on wellness tourism, hyper-local experiences, cultural heritage, technology, and destination reinvention.

Chiang Rai, a UNESCO Creative City of Design, has been selected as the host destination for its strong cultural identity, local craftsmanship, and natural landscapes, which align with the forum’s emphasis on responsible and meaningful travel.

The programme will feature a mix of keynote presentations, panel discussions, and workshops by industry leaders and regional tourism representatives. Speakers include senior officials from tourism boards, creative industries, sustainability organisations, and destination marketing agencies across Asia and Europe.

The forum begins on 1 December with the Chiang Rai WOW Market & Famous Food Festival, showcasing local products, cuisine, and cultural performances. On the second day, delegates can participate in technical site visits organised by the Designated Areas for Sustainable Tourism Administration (DASTA), featuring curated routes highlighting Chiang Rai’s creative industries, cultural heritage, and community tourism initiatives.

The main conference will take place on the final day, with sessions covering destination transformation, wellness travel, creative economies, responsible tourism practices, and the role of technology in travel marketing. Interlude sessions will highlight local Chiang Rai coffee and tea.

The event will conclude with a farewell reception hosted by Chiang Rai Province, focusing on wellness-inspired local cuisine and community-based tourism experiences.

The forum is co-hosted by Chiang Rai Province, TCEB, and DASTA, with support from the Tourism Authority of Thailand and several industry partners. Airline and hospitality partnerships include Thai Airways International, Vietjet, HotelPlanner, and The Heritage Chiang Rai Hotel and Convention.

As Thailand observes a period of national mourning, delegates have been advised to follow official guidelines regarding dress code during the event.
