Moxy Hotels Opens First Nepal Property with the Launch of Moxy Kathmandu
Moxy Hotels has announced its entry into Nepal with the opening of Moxy Kathmandu. The city’s blend of heritage, contemporary culture, and youthful energy provides a fitting backdrop for the brand.
Located in Durbarmarg, one of Kathmandu’s business and entertainment districts, Moxy Kathmandu is a short drive from Tribhuvan International Airport. Guests have convenient access to nearby cultural and historical sites, including the UNESCO-listed Durbar Square, Swayambhunath Stupa (Monkey Temple), and the Thamel markets. The hotel is also near Kathmandu’s growing contemporary scene, including galleries, cafés, rooftop venues, and live music spaces.
Moxy Kathmandu offers a stay experience shaped by flexible social spaces, local design influences, and an atmosphere that encourages interaction. The hotel serves as a base for travellers exploring temples, nearby trails, or the city’s nightlife.
Kiran Andicot, Senior Vice President, South Asia, Marriott International, noted that Kathmandu’s blend of tradition and modernity aligns well with Moxy’s growth in South Asia.
Guests are welcomed at The Moxy Bar, which doubles as the check-in area and a central social space. The lobby features artwork inspired by Nepali culture and includes communal areas designed for casual gatherings. Recreational elements such as air hockey, board games, and the signature Moxy Hookup—offering spontaneous small perks—add to the guest experience. The hotel’s layout emphasises community, flexibility, and design-led spaces.
Moxy Kathmandu features 101 guestrooms designed to maximise space and adapt to varying guest needs. Rooms include walk-in showers, modular furniture, 55-inch HD Smart TVs, and functional details such as motion-activated lighting and peg walls.

A fitness centre is available for guests seeking daily workouts.
Dining options include LA HACIENDA – Barra y Cocina Latina on Level 11, featuring Latin American cuisine developed by Chef Martin Hernandez Lopez. The restaurant offers views of the Kathmandu Valley and incorporates an open kitchen and design elements created by New York-based Mexican designer Pablo Castellanos. CARIÑO – Terraza Latina provides an open-air terrace setting with cocktails and city views. Both venues aim to appeal to local guests and international travellers.
Subarna Thapa, Captain at Moxy Kathmandu, noted that the hotel aims to connect guests with the city’s diverse and evolving character.
