HKTB to Stage Hong Kong New Year Countdown with Music and Light Show in Central
On New Year’s Eve, the Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB) will welcome 2026 with a new edition of the Hong Kong New Year Countdown at the Chater Road Pedestrian Precinct in Central. The event, themed “New Hopes, New Beginnings,” will feature live music performances and a synchronised light show across key landmarks.

The programme will feature international music group Air Supply, along with local artists Jay Fung and Cloud Wan. A children’s choir and the Hong Kong Police Band will also perform during the evening.
As part of the Immersive Light Show in Central, the façades of eight landmarks will be transformed into illuminated countdown clocks. At midnight, the buildings will display a three-minute light presentation aligned with the event theme, marking the arrival of 2026. Hong Kong Land supports this year’s Hong Kong New Year Countdown.
Live Broadcast and Viewing Locations

The countdown will be broadcast live across multiple platforms, allowing audiences in Hong Kong and overseas to follow the event. In Central, Chater Garden and Edinburgh Place will host large outdoor screens showing the live programme. Phased road closures around Chater Road are expected to begin at around 6:00 pm on New Year’s Eve. “Winter Wonderland in Central” will close at 4:00 pm on the same day.
In Tsim Sha Tsui, the show will be projected onto the Hong Kong Cultural Centre’s façade. Viewers in Wan Chai will be able to see a giant countdown clock displayed on the façade of the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre.
Multi-Platform Global Broadcast

HKTB will livestream the Hong Kong New Year Countdown via its official website, DiscoverHongKong.com, and social media channels. The live feed will also be made available to media partners for simulcast and distributed internationally via satellite, enabling global audiences to take part in the countdown.
Citywide Countdown Information
In addition to the main event, several New Year’s Eve activities will take place across Hong Kong. HKTB’s visitor information platforms will feature selected countdown events to help residents and visitors plan their celebrations. Highlights include the Hong Kong New Year Countdown, a Hong Kong Disneyland event, and a countdown concert at the West Kowloon Cultural District.
HKTB has advised the public to follow updates from relevant government departments regarding special traffic and transport arrangements on New Year’s Eve.
